After the game

The Americans immediately filed a protest to the Jury of Appeal.

The protest which was reviewed all night by 5-member Jury. The decision favored of the Soviets. In a separate article I tried to reconstruct events of that night's discussion.

Same day Americans tried to appeal to the International Olympic Commitee (IOC) Executive Board, but failed.

The Americans refused to accept silver medals and left Munich.

Several days later FIBA presented their version of events.

Several months later the Assistant Manager of the American team Herbert Mols presented a thorough to a report about this game.

In February of 1973 Americans filed a very well prepared appeal to IOC, with the same negative outcome.

From time to time, players were asked if they changed their mind, but the answer was always no.
